Born in Dublin and worked as a midwife at Holles Street Hospital, Dublin. A committed trade unionist, she was also involved in nationalist and suffragist organisations including the Gaelic League and Cumann na mBan. She served as part of the Irish Citizens Army during Easter week, carrying out nursing and courier duties. After the Rising, she remained a dedicated republican activist. Crafted from Carrara, Connemara and Kilkenny marble and commissioned to commemmorate the 40th anniversary of the International Nursing and Midwifery Research and Education Conference in 2022.</dc:description>
