Correspondence to first wife Elizabeth (nee Bessie) Extensive collection of personal letters between his first wife Elizabeth (nee Bessie). The letters contain a period of separation when John was away in Dublin working towards his medical degree in Dublin while working in some of Dublin's top hospitals including the Richmond and Combe, while Elizabeth stayed and worked on the farm based in Kingsland, Co Roscommon. Short transcriptions of many of the letters are included however many of the letters are incomplete. Numbers run from RSCI/IP/Knott/03/01/01 to RSCI/IP/Knott/03/01/40. 1874-1877
