  <dc:description>Colourfully illuminated vellum scroll presented by the British Medical Association to Thomas Parke on the vote of council to award him the British Medical Association medal RCSI/IP/Parke/6/1. The scroll reads 'British Medical Association At a meeting of the council held in the Council Room of the Association, 429 Strand, W.C. on Wednesday January 15th 1890 Dr. T. Bridgewater (President of the Council) in the Chair. It was moved by Mr. Wheelhouse seconded by Mr. MacNamara and resolved that the Gold Medal of the association be presented to Surgeon Thomas Heazle Parke A.M.S for his highly distinguished services as Surgeon to the Emin Pasha Relief Force and in evidences of the estimation on which such services are held by the members of his profession. Signature - Thomas Bridgewater, President of Council. This medal was presented at a numerously attended General Meeting of Members held in the lecture theatre of the Midland Institute of the City of Birmingham at the fifty eighth annual meeting. July 31st 1890 Signature - W.F. Wade, President in the Chair'. * Note this item has been removed and returned to the Stoker family.</dc:description>
