A further manuscript note on the reverse reads 'Patrick Ennis. Aetat 38. He had several attacks of inflammation in the left eye. One of which was treated by mercury. Admitted 16th of October. Slight conjunctival inflammation. Several fibres of the lens prolonged and [?] to the lens from an old attack of the infl. Lens transparent. Cornea slightly muddy. Can see distant objects better than near. Can make his way through the street [?] well. Was treated with the 4th of a grain of iodide of mercury 3 times a day - until the 24th without relief to vision. Salivation was produced, conjunctival inflammation disappeared. Was then treated with 5 grains of hydro [?] 3 times a day. And solution of bell [?] dropped into the eyes. Until the 9th November when he was discharged with [?] improvement of vision. Can read the letters over the shops across the street. Appearance of iris the same.'</dc:description>
