Inside the lid the inscription reads 'Monday 12 January 1807 Being quarter day of the Corporation of Barbers Surgeons etc. They unanimously voted the Freedom of said Guild in this box to be presented to Robert Shaw Esq. As a testimony of their high approbation of his loyal manly and dignified conduct as their representative in Parliament and his zealous regard for the City of Dublin and its rights. Wm.
