  <dc:description>Wooden and silver foundation mallet. Two large silver panels on the side and one small silver panel on the top. First large silver panel has the following inscription 'This mallet was used on the 25th Aug.t 1825 by his Excellency Richard Marquis Wellesley in laying the first stone of the Museum of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland'. The second large silver panel has the following inscription 'The mallet was used on the 29th April 1876 by his grace the Duke of Aberrorn KG Lord Lieutenant General and General Governor of Ireland in laying the foundation stone of the new buildings of the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland'. The small silver panel has the following inscription 'The mallet was used by the President of the College Mr. Edward Sheridan on May 15th 1926 in opening the Boxwell Memorial Laboratory'.</dc:description>
