DescriptionColour illustration of male genitalia showing lesions to the glans of the penis. A manuscript note on the front reads 'R.T.C July 1830. Phagedenic chancroid [?] healing on the other side'. A further manuscript note on the reverse reads 'This sore after the drawing [?] a dark brown colour and became very [?]. The constituency was disinherited [?] by fever after [?] for him one grain of [?] and 2 of [?] to be taken every 6 hours and the [?]. I continued this plan for about 10 days. By this time the sore had become perfectly clean and discharged matter of good quality. All the [?] now put him on a course of [?] after having [?] his mouth became sore - the ulcer lost its [?] and it looked in every aspect healthy - but then even more granulation [?] than what is usual.'
